Haiku Alpha 1

They are 18% away from releasing the first alpha release of HaikuOS. I'm really excited to go back to this system. . . had my BeBox fired up recently and was reminded how much the world lost.

The State of Haiku

Haikuware.com has the Weekly Super Pack, a 110MB .7z file that expands to a 10GB VMware image loaded with HaikuOS and a bunch of applications. I opened up Gobe Productive and did some word processing, I browsed the file system with Tracker, it was all very brilliant.

More good news: Haiku will once again be a part of Google's summer of code. Up and coming programmers apply here, they're open for ideas on projects to assign.

Are you a student looking for work in computer science? This is a great opportunity to learn about operating system design, you will be the architect.
